Spring is in the air and what better way to celebrate than with a burst of colour and creativity? Make with me a positive and negative painting with lots of colours and dabbing. This painting is a great idea for kids, as it will entertain them and they will get to express their creativity and learn about shapes.

MATERIALS:
Papers
Paints
A sponge or a very big brush
Pencil
Marker
Scissors
Masking tape

STEP-BY-STEP TUTORIAL:
1, Take a sheet of paper and with a pencil draw a line across the bottom of the page to make a ground. You can draw a straight or a wavy line.
2, Then draw simple flowers and leaves growing out from the ground. Draw only simple flower outlines, as we will be cutting them out and any detail that isn’t cut out won’t be visible.
3, Take a marker and outline the flowers. This will help you see where you need to cut, so you don’t cut the wrong part off.
4, Place your cut-out flowers on top of another paper. If you want to be sure the paper won’t move while painting, put a bit of rolled-up masking tape under the stencil.
5, Take a sponge or a very big brush, dip it in the paint and then dab different colours all over the painting.
6, When you are finished, lift up your stencil and let the painting dry.
